iTunes and podcasting - the big hoo ha

July 6th, 2005

Feedburner has finalized it’s iTunes support. In a nutshell that means your podcasts will be properly picked up and described for people using iTunes. But what is the big picture? What does all this really mean in simple English?

You see, iTunes, Yahoo Media RSS, Odeo and probably many more media archives in the future require special coding in your RSS feeds in order to properly list your podcast, video cast or whatever cast in the software or directory.

Many of them have their own little requirements so it is a real pain and you’d have to manually edit your RSS file if you want in on these directories. But feedburner has made it as easy as clicking a checkbox and filling in your details.
